“Delightful and informative, clever without being cute...Our audience will love this program.” WHRV, Norfolk, VA I’m Flora Delaterre, plant detective. Plants are my beat; phytomedicinals (medicinal compounds from plants) are my specialty. What is The Plant Detective? A short informational radio show on which I, Flora Delaterre, share my plant investigations. Click on the radio in the picture above to hear a broadband-quality version of the show, or click here if you have dial-up. On each episode of my show, I investigate one plant and its medicinal compounds, benefits, efficacy, risks, or lore. My investigations take me around the globe, from Sri Lanka to Siberia, from the Appalachian Mountains to the rainforests of the Northwest, from research laboratories to your backyard. The Plant Detective has been on public radio airwaves since 1996 in western Montana and on community and public stations around the country and the world since 2007. The show began as a project of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy at the University of Montana and Montana Public Radio. Now content guidance is provided by the Botanical Medicine Department of Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington. The Plant Detective is free, a minute and a half long, and available to any public or community radio station. Find out how your station can get The Plant Detective. The show is proudly sponsored by Genuine Scooters of Chicago, Illinois--scooters, a planet and plant friendly ride. (They even come in green!) Thanks also to the American Society of Plant Biologists. Check out my coloring book, Medicinal Plants of North America! For kids 7 and up and colorists of all ages. See the list of stores that carry it or order it here on my website. Missoulian article about the show "There is no doubt this series is both entertaining and informative. We at WETD 90.7 Alfred, New York, receive many positive comments . . . Keep up the good work." |
